At end of bridge, turn LEFT, following Rock Creek Trail
After four miles on the Rock Creek Trail, turn LEFT up through the Zoo (HILL!) to Connecticut Ave.
Turn RIGHT on Connecticut, go towards Cleveland Park.
After less than a half mile, just before the Uptown Theatre, turn LEFT up hill on Newark St.
Observe all the ritzy houses of Cleveland Park
Go a mile on Newark, then turn RIGHT on Wisconson
Go a mile on Wisconson, then turn LEFT at Tenley Circle onto Yuma St.
Go a mile on Yuma, then turn LEFT on Massachusetts Ave.
Observe American Univerity, then the National Cathedral and all the embassies
Pass the Naval Observatory / VP's residence on your right
After three miles on Massachusetts Ave., and just before the bridge over Rock Creek, turn RIGHT up Whitehaven St. (HILL!)
Just before top of hill, see Clinton's house on right
At the top of the hill, by a fence, turn LEFT onto trail
You are now in Dumbarton Oaks
Watch your footing on this rocky section. At the bottom of the hill, turn LEFT on dirt trail
After winding along the trail for a couple minutes, and crossing a little footbridge, turn RIGHT on (unmarked) "Lover's Lane" (HILL!, picture at right) and take this up to R. St.
Turn RIGHT at R. St., LEFT on 31st, RIGHT on M St., cross Key Bridge
Finish at Iwo Jima
