Paul Thurston 5K

This race honors Paul Thurston and his contributions to the sport of running. In particular, Paul and his son Bob once held the US record for the fastest father-son marathon team. To celebrate this accomplishment, registrants for this year’s Paul Thurston 5K have the option to register as a duo to compete in the Thurston Family Challenge.

And with that spirit in mind, join DC Road Runners for a race on a beautiful out-and-back 5K course in the heart of Washington, DC. In honor of Memorial Day, come out wearing your red, white, and blue running gear. Don’t have any red, white, or blue gear? DC Road Runners can help with that.

The Paul Thurston 5K is the first race in the 2026 Bunion Derby Series.
