Running Background
Kelly started running in the late 2000s, and she joined DC Road Runners shortly thereafter to train for the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler. Kelly has run races of all distances, including the Inaugural Dopey Challenge, where she somehow managed to run negative splits in each race.
Kelly serves at DC Road Runners’ Vice President for Training and is a RRCA-certified running coach. Since she first joined DCRR as a trainee, she understands how important training programs are to new members and how they can help establish a sense of community for members of all running experience levels.
In addition to her role as the VP for Training, Kelly is a race director for the National Capital 20 Miler and the Four Courts Four Miler.
Extracurricular Activities
When not running, talking about running, or thinking about running, Kelly is typically found reading, drawing, or taking care of her three cats: Secretariat, Hazel-rah, and Kiwi.
In addition to volunteering with DC Road Runners, since 2013, she has served as co-chair for the Capital Area Food Bank’s Food from the Bar Campaign, where she was instrumental in increasing donations from $160,000 during her first year to over $570,000 in 2025. In total, since being a co-chair, the campaign has provided over 10 million meals to the DC Metropolitan area.
