Bunion Derby Series
The Bunion Derby and the Snowball Series form the backbone of DC Road Runners intraclub competition. The races in these series also fulfill the club’s mission to promote the sport of running within the local community.
DCRR members and non-members alike are invited to participate in Bunion Derby Series events.
Volunteer Credit
The date range for earning out-of-series volunteer credit for other club race support is roughly May 15, 2026-October 15, 2026. The final date range will be confirmed once the dates for the 2026 Bunion Derby Series races are established.
Volunteer support for the National Capital 20 Miler qualifies for credit. Contact the DCRR Volunteer Coordinator with any questions about volunteer credit.
Weather Policy
Safety is DC Road Runners’ number one priority.
In the event of threatening weather conditions that could make running unsafe for participants, the club may cancel, delay, suspend, or postpone a race, run, or other event. Similarly, race courses may be modified if weather conditions have the potential to make courses unsafe for participants.
Such threatening weather conditions may include: lightning, heavy rain, wind/tornadoes, extreme heat, ice/snow, or other major weather conditions. Extreme heat is defined as a heat index that meets or exceeds 105 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of the event or run.
In the event of visible lightning or audible thunder, at least 30 minutes must pass before outdoor events commence or resume. It is up to the race director or run leader to determine whether the conditions are threatening and to communicate any decision to alter the event or run.
