2025 Spring 10-Mile and Half-Marathon Training ProgramOur Spring Ten Mile/Half Marathon Training Program is designed to help runners train for some of the DC area's premier spring races, such as the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler, the DC Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon, and the Shamrock Half Marathon. While the program targets mid-March half marathons and the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler, there is an option to extend the training to target races that fall later in the spring, like the Brooklyn Half Marathon. Your coaches will tailor training plans as needed based on the races trainees plan to run in the spring.
The training program begins Sunday, December 29, 2024 and officially ends April 5, 2025 with the option to continue to training through the end of April. The first group run is on Saturday, January 4, 2025. Group runs will meet every Saturday through April 19, 2025.
Saturday group runs will meet at 8:00 a.m. at North Meade Street Park, which is across the street from the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn, Virginia. We will also have group track runs throughout the training program. Coaches will provide more details on track runs as training progresses.
All paces are welcome! We encourage beginner, intermediate, and advanced runners to join us. We recommend that trainees be running a minimum of 10 or more miles per week and able to complete a long run of at least 4 miles at the beginning of the training program. If you have not run a 10-miler or half-marathon before, we strongly recommend that you consult your physician prior to entering this program. Registration is open to participants 18 years of age and older as of the start of the program. What's included in the training program?
What's new for 2025?
Weather Policy: Safety is our number one priority. A race, training run, or other event may be canceled, delayed, suspended or postponed, or the course may be modified in the event of threatening weather conditions that could make the run unsafe for participants. Such threatening weather conditions may include: lightning, heavy rains, wind / tornadoes, extreme heat, ice / snow, or other major weather conditions. Extreme heat is defined as a heat index that meets or exceeds 105 °F at the time of the event or run. Lightning strikes within one mile of the planned course are considered threatening. It is up to the race director or run leader to determine whether the conditions are threatening and communicate any decision to alter the event or run to participants.
