- o Have asked race directors for their volunteer lists; will pass to Mike Collins so he can begin compiling Snowball Series standings.
- o Predictions & Resolutions 5K was also a big success with 226 finishers. Plus, we received some press coverage from reporter Colin Raunig at RunWashington.com.
- o Next race is JFK 20K/MLK 5K in two weeks. I spoke with Daryl Knuth this morning. He’s going to call Leigh Zahm at National Park Service and check status of permit. Mary is setting up a Happy Hour for Friday January 18th to facilitate tag pickup. Daryl needs volunteers (currently has none) and I directed him to Audrey Perlow. 194 runners registered as of this morning.
- o Maryland RRCA 10 Mile Challenge (6th Snowball Series race): registration is open, link to Howard County Striders’ web page is on our home page and calendar. 32 of our people (25 men, 7 women) are registered as of this afternoon.
- o GW Marathon. 166 registered as of this afternoon.
- o Summer races. Sent email out to last year’s race directors asking them to confirm whether they will direct this year’s events. Received positive responses from Rob Wolfe (Cross Country 3+K and Club Picnic), Ian Clements (Steve Thompson 8K), Alex Albertini (Women’s Distance Festival/Run After the Women 5K). Awaiting replies from others.
- Lauren Bullis (Age Handicapped 4 miler) and Brian Danza (Bastille Day 4 miler, 1‑Mile and 3K Track Championships): how about it? Both said “yes.”
- Bob Platt (One Hour Track Run) also said “yes” at the Still awaiting replies from Lisa Schaefer (Bluemont 5K), Pat Brown (Hugh Jascourt 4-Miler), Mary Ellen Seale (Paul Thurston/Burke Lake 4.5-Miler).
- o Late summer:
- I will begin planning for Larry Noel 15K and 3K. Eduardo Aramayo at Georgetown Running Company said he will (again!) provide gift certificates for key finishers.
- I will ask Bob Thurston, Delabian Rice-Thurston, Chuck Evans to direct the National Capital 20-Miler.
- o Van:
- Current loadout is lots of water (leftover from Al Lewis 10-Miler), no food. Four (±) $5 gift cards from Starbucks … I will obtain more. Filled gas tank and put air in all tires after the P&R5K on January 1st.
- Van loadout: Different equipment is needed to support club races vs. contract races. Brian agreed and said he would look at a way to quickly change the loadout
Merchandise
-Inventory is being completed and it will all be online shortly.
Volunteers
-If race directors need volunteers, please let Audry know by the 11th of the month so that she can add this to the monthly newsletter that goes out on the 15th.
New Business/Additional Comments
The board discussed moving to approve that the bylaws are changed no longer requiring state representatives. The thought is that having At-Large directors could work well.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.
