I began running regularly in 1981 as an Army Lieutenant in Germany as I was enjoying the German cuisine and beer a bit too much.
How did you find out about DCRR and when did you join?
I joined in 2007 when I returned to the United States from deployment and it looked like we wouldn't be moving anymore for Army assignments.
What are you training for right now?
The SHF Potomac River Marathon on May 1, 2016. I'm trying to re-qualify for Boston. I missed and attempt to do so at Erie last September.

The Honolulu City Lights 5k race in 1995. This was my longest competitive race.

I love the Bunion Derby and Snowball Series races and most importantly the people in the club.
What's your favorite route in the area?
Bluemont Trail in Arlington
What's the most important lesson running has taught you?
Be humble. Don't get too full of yourself. There is always someone much faster and better trained than the rest of us.

Always warm up for 20-30 minutes. I don't want to start racing unless I have a slight sweat going.
What's your proudest running moment?
Three Boston Marathons.
What's your life like outside of running?
Landscaping at the house and keeping my car spotless. I am very fastidious about my car. Dont know why.
What is one thing you wouldn't run without?
My car key when I'm at races and house key during training runs and my watch as I time all of my training runs (good or bad).
