This Saturday, Feb 15th the plan is to run the Normanstone Hill/ Klingle Loop for a little over 13 miles. I will be out (at a race - not being lazy :) but will have a sub starting things off. Please use caution out there and expect ice, slush, and unplowed snow areas. Normanstone hill has some hilly sections and places where the snow cover may be completely untouched - I would consider running an out and back on the Rock Creek Park trail as an alternative - mostly flat, away from the road (safer from cars), and will probably already been flattened out.
Thank You to Mary Ellen for more fine post-run drink work! We do need drink volunteers soon. Its not a lot of work and the club reimburses your expenses. Please email SLR@dcroadrunners.org if you can help out!
In club news, the GW Birthday Marathon has been cancelled due to weather - there is a slight possibility that it will get rescheduled. Please check the website for the latest info. In more upbeat club news, Happy Hour is Thurs, Feb 20th, and the Club Challenge 10 Miler is next Sunday!
If you do the full Rock Creek -> Normanstone Hill -> Klingle -> Rock Creek loop you are looking at like 13 miles. However, if you take my advice and do an out and back on Rock Creek turning around at Pierce Mill (6.5 miles out) will also get you 13 miles. Plus, bathrooms and water here. Obviously if you choose the out and back route you can make it less or more.
"You didn't really think I would take an unplanned rest day did you?"
Happy Running and Be Safe!
