This race is an established pillar of the fall running scene and brought many runners who were testing their mettle for fall marathons. This is the Virginia RRCA State 20 Mile Championship Race. The team competition consisted of three person teams.
In keeping with long-standing tradition, runners feated on pizza from Bugsies of Alexandria following the race. Many thanks to co-race directors Chuck Evans and Bob Thurston who have lead this race for all 22 years of its current format, as well as its prior structure as a 36-mile ultra with a 20-mile fun run. Special thanks to Delabian Rice Thurston, who coordinated volunteers, and to Jack McMahon who handled mail-in registrations and results.
