Greenbelt, MD
Conducted by DC Road Runners Club
DCRRC continued an important area running tradition by holding one of the oldest marathons in the country in surprisingly pleasant conditions, with only a few minutes of brief drizzle despite the prediction of rain. For the first time in years, a master runner, Chris Hamley was the overall winner in 2:42. First woman was Lydia Becker in 3:17.
Other finishers included George Banker, who was Race Director of the marathon relay for 15 years and is now the Technical Director of the Army 10 Miler (4:19:19); Ron Bowman, who directed the Annapolis 10 Miler for many years, (6:06:00); and James Thull, who has directed many races as President of the Fredericksburg Area Running Club (4:14:24).
The youngest finisher was 16-year-old Rebecca Kish, and the oldest was 68-year-old Benito Vazquez.
