2025 DCRRC New Year's Resolutions 5K

Ring in 2025 the right way by running the New Year's Resolutions 5K. We will again be running the race at Washington-Liberty High School. There is ample parking on the Stafford Street parking deck. The site is also accessible via Metro from the Virginia Square station

New this year! The New Year's Resolutions 5K will be the third 2024-25 Snowball Series race.

Distance and course: The course starts and finishes at Washington-Liberty High School. The map of course is can be viewed by clicking this link. It features rolling hills on the Custis Trail with a net downhill last mile followed by a flat last section.  This is a USATF Certified Course so feel free to set a world record!

Refund policy for low key races: In the event the race is canceled, pre-paid non-members will receive a credit to be applied to a future low-key race.

Race-day Information: Check-in and race number pickup will begin at 11:00 AM on the parking deck next to Washington-Liberty High School near the corner of N Quincy and N15th St.  This parking deck is closed to traffic and 15th St. will also be closed to traffic. Ample parking is available on the parking deck on N Stafford St. which you will need to access from Washington Blvd. The race will start promptly at 12:00 PM. After the race stick around to share bagels and cream cheese with all of your favorite runners.

Can I run the New Year's Resolutions 5K with a stroller? Sorry, NO Strollers allowed.  The course is too narrow and the trail is shared use with the public. No exceptions

Volunteer: If you would like to volunteer, please sign up at this link. For Snowball Series volunteer purposes (particularly Jacket) this race would satisfy your outside the series volunteer component.

Timing and AwardsThis race will be timed using the Chronotrack timing system.  Prizes will be given to the top 3 overall men and women; also, 1st place Masters man and woman; 1st place man and woman in each 10 year age group plus ages 9 and under, 10-14 and 15-19 year categories. 

Directions

  • From Washington DC: take I-66 west to the Glebe Road exit, turn right on Glebe, right on 15th Street for about 0.4 miles, to Stafford Street, turn right and cross over I-66 and the school is on your left.
  • From Vienna and points west in Virginia: take I-66 east to the Fairfax Drive exit, follow Fairfax Drive for about 0.8 mile to Stafford Street, turn left for about 0.3 miles and the school is on your right.
  • From Alexandria: take Glebe Road going north until turning right on 15th Street, and proceed as from DC.
  • Metro: Washington-Liberty is a short walk from both the Virginia Square and Ballston Metro stations on the Orange Line.
