January 9, 2020 – 5th Board Meeting at Deborah’s Place

Meeting was called to order at 7:01 PM by Ben Richter, President.

  1. November meeting minutes – Approved.
  2. Action items review from the previous meeting: a. DCRRC cards – Jonny will print 5,000 copies ($300). b. Board members bio update – Vitaly will update the DCRRC page. c. Nomination for Hall of Fame – Ben will send the recommendation of Rob Wolfe to the existing Hall of Famers to get approved. d. Spring Capital Classic 10K Training – Kate will work with Jonny to have a plan in place in time.
  3. Future board meeting dates: Mar 1 (Banquet), May 14 (New Board)
  4. Banquet speaker: Action – Kate andEd will reach out to prospective speakers they know. Ben will investigate whether we can get Kathrine Switzer.
  5. Posting: Action – Ben will post the link to sign up for the banquet on the website.
  6. Treasurer Reports

Bi-monthly reports were sent out before the board meeting:

  1. 2019 Financial result - $20K net income mainly thanks to sponsorship for Alexandria Turkey Trot
  2. Sales Tax Issue: Action – Ben will contact RRCA for guidance, check with Rob Wolfe for his experience with CB 10M, and work with Sarah for interim measures.
  3. 2020 Budget: Action – Sarah will work with Brian and Miguel to discuss capital investment for this year.
  4. Bank account: Action – Ben will move ban account from wells Fargo to Capital One and come up with the list of members with DCRR bank accounts.

  2. SLR (Mike) - Megan Curtin will take over the SLR and as Director for Training Initiative.
  3. HMTP/ATM Training Program (Kate)
  • 35 trainees signed up for spring half marathon training.
  • Arranging speakers to talk to trainees before some runs. Action: Ben will reach out to Jill Rowan.
  1. MTP (Jonny)
  • 16 signed up for Spring Marathon Training. Action – Jonny will do another blast on FB to catch some New Year's resolutions.
  • Coaches - Big Guy, Jill Brasky, Eunja, and Carl Ford. 
  • We are in the process of trying to get more runners integrated with Wednesday and Thursday track workouts.
  • Long-sleeve training t-shirts. Action - Jonny will order something close to exact quantity and plan a new order to cover 10K training when that gets started.
  • Several trainees have reported issues with Gmap-Pedometer (site we use to store route maps -- not cue sheets).  I am experimenting using Plot-a-Route as an alternative (https://www.plotaroute.com/).
  • Megan C. is doing a great job with SLR.
  1. Spring Capital Classic 10K Training – Will need to find another leader replacing Kathy P. Action: Jonny will work with Kathy to find the replacement. Training will start in late March still at Summit to Soul.
  2. Spring Rock’n Roll Marathon: Action – Coaches to ask trainees to sign up as DCRRC members! Kate and Jonny to send the link https://www.runrocknroll.com/Programs/Run-Clubto trainees.
  3. Couch to 5K: Actions – Kate and Anne will come up with a partnership proposal with FRC; Delna and Kate will organize the 5K program.

  2. Website upgrade: Action – Ben will discuss with IT team (Brian, Dylan, Raj, Vitaly).
  3. Board members bios – Action: Vitaliy will update the board members bios on our website.
  4. IT feasibility questions:
  • When signing up for races, can we add an option to become members?
  • When signing to be a member, can we ask where they hear about us?

Action – Dylan will send the list to Deborah to figure out non-members that have paid more for low key races than membership fee. Deborah will then send an invitation email to those in the list to become members.
