Welcome! This is the home of the world-famous (well, maybe locally well-known) SLR.
Our start time is at 8:00 AM until next summer! Every Saturday we meet at North Meade Street Park, a small park northwest of the USMC War Memorial (Iwo Jima Memorial) in Rosslyn. The closest address for mapping purposes is 1300 Arlington Blvd, and street parking is available in the neighborhoods adjacent to N. Meade Street. Be mindful of parking signs, since Arlington County enforces them enthusiastically, and please do not park on Marine Memorial Circle (inside Iwo Jima), because this parking area is for memorial use only. At least one porta-john is available year-round near the Iwo Jima Memorial, and the memorial's water fountain is usually on during the summer.
We run rain or shine! In cases of extreme weather (snow, ice, thunderstorms, heat waves) we do occasionally either change our meeting time or cancel the run for safety, but the run will be held as planned unless otherwise posted via email/twitter/facebook and here on the SLR web page.
All are welcome! We're an informal group, and there are no requirements for speed, racing experience, or what distance means "long" for you, other than the suggested route that most of our group will be running each week. If you don't want to run the same distance or course as the main group, you can go out for half of your own target distance and re-trace your steps back to Iwo Jima. More specific route info and mileage options will be given in the email/post preceding each Saturday's run. SLR always features a run from our extensive Route Catalog, which gives us a wide range of options to keep things fresh for you each week. We have routes that are flat, hilly, looped, out & back, roads, sidewalks, trails, and more, reaching all around the local area of DC, VA, and MD!
For more details about Saturday Long Runs please read our Frequently Asked Questions to get a sense for what it's like to run with us, or send an email to Anna if you have any other questions that are not covered.

Hello Saturday Runners!
You may have noticed the route schedule included the RFK route for this Saturday; however, there is a large charity walk taking place near the Mall, and it may make for a better run if we avoid that crowd.
Instead, take advantage of the opportunity to view the beautiful fall foliage along the Capital Crescent trail. The gradual uphill on the way out should be just enough to stretch your calves and glutes without beating you up if you're recovering or tapering, and the distance can be anything you want. Also, there are no turns to keep track of, so it should be a good substitute for the week you share race reports from MCM and other fall races-- CONGRATS to all our MCM runners!!!
Please thank Kimberley Larson for providing our post-run beverages and wish her luck in Richmond next week! Hopefully her generosity in helping us out this November will create some good race karma for her. If you, too, would like to bank some good race karma, we are still looking for a beverages volunteer in December (and possibly an SLR sub for Dec 25 and Jan 1), and there are many other volunteer opportunities to check out on the website as well (Thanksgiving Turkey Trots! Snowball Series!).
Hope to see you all tomorrow!
And good luck to those running New York!

Hello Saturday runners! Those not running MCM, this week's route is Cathedral Clintons. Thanks to Alex Albertini for leading in my absence, and thanks to Janet Braunstein for providing post-run beverages, and to Tenley Ludewig for providing beverages up by the Cathedral.
We still need volunteers to cover shifts at the tent. Please email me with the time(s) you can help. I'm also working all weekend, so I will try to keep on top of email to get the schedule put together as best I can. Thanks to everyone who signed up early-- that makes things so easy and the runners will appreciate knowing who's guarding their stuff!
Also, please feel free to drop by the tent, either to hang out and greet people or to drop off yummy goodies for the runners!!
More about the tent-- DCRRC will be sharing tent space at Charity Village with “Tuesday’s Children” We will be In ROW CV2 on the Left opposite American Cancer Society (map here).
