Welcome! This is the home of the world-famous (well, maybe locally well-known) SLR.
Our start time is at 8:00 AM until next summer! Every Saturday we meet at North Meade Street Park, a small park northwest of the USMC War Memorial (Iwo Jima Memorial) in Rosslyn. The closest address for mapping purposes is 1300 Arlington Blvd, and street parking is available in the neighborhoods adjacent to N. Meade Street. Be mindful of parking signs, since Arlington County enforces them enthusiastically, and please do not park on Marine Memorial Circle (inside Iwo Jima), because this parking area is for memorial use only. At least one porta-john is available year-round near the Iwo Jima Memorial, and the memorial's water fountain is usually on during the summer.
We run rain or shine! In cases of extreme weather (snow, ice, thunderstorms, heat waves) we do occasionally either change our meeting time or cancel the run for safety, but the run will be held as planned unless otherwise posted via email/twitter/facebook and here on the SLR web page.
All are welcome! We're an informal group, and there are no requirements for speed, racing experience, or what distance means "long" for you, other than the suggested route that most of our group will be running each week. If you don't want to run the same distance or course as the main group, you can go out for half of your own target distance and re-trace your steps back to Iwo Jima. More specific route info and mileage options will be given in the email/post preceding each Saturday's run. SLR always features a run from our extensive Route Catalog, which gives us a wide range of options to keep things fresh for you each week. We have routes that are flat, hilly, looped, out & back, roads, sidewalks, trails, and more, reaching all around the local area of DC, VA, and MD!
For more details about Saturday Long Runs please read our Frequently Asked Questions to get a sense for what it's like to run with us, or send an email to Anna if you have any other questions that are not covered.

Hello Saturday Runners!
This Sat, July 26th, we will be running the Arlington Triangle for about 16 miles. Its basically a huge loop, so if you would like less you will have to make it an out-and-back. The intersection with 4 mile run is about 5 miles out, so if you turn around here it will get you a 10 mile run.
Thank you to Kevin Cunningham for covering post-run drinks! Also, Mike Tosto will be helping us refuel mid-way through the run at the usual locatoin. There are also multiple water fountains along this route if you need more hydration. Drinks are looking good for summer, though there are still a few Saturday mid-run drink needs. Please check the SLR webpage for dates and email SLR@dcroadrunners.org to help out!
Remember to pace yourself on this route - the first third is pretty flat, the middle part is a steady uphill climb, and the last section is downhill. Looks like more great summer running weather, partly cloudy with temps in the 70s!

Hello Saturday Runners!
This Sat, July 19th, we will be running the DC Sightseer loop at about 13.5 miles. Please check the cue sheet and map for more details. This shows highlights of all the DC Monuments and tourist draws, however the tourists are few and far between at the wee hours of the morning!
Thank you to Joe Buccimo for great post-run drink work all month! Flora Arabo will be helping us refuel mid-way through the run. There are also multiple water fountains along this route as indicated on the map if you need more hydration. Drinks are looking good for summer, though there are still a few Saturday mid-run drink needs. Please check the SLR webpage for dates of need (along with some route updates) and email SLR@dcroadrunners.org to help out!
Be sure to run the whole route as its listed if you want your full 13.5 miles. Its also very easy to cut off (or add on) if you need a shorter or longer run. I'll be out but Emily Leary Chesnes will be starting things off.
Looks like great summer running weather, partly cloudy with temps in the 70s!

Hello Saturday Runners!
This Sat, July 12th, we will be running the Upton Hill Route. Its actually only 12 miles as-is, but if you would like to add on I suggest running the "bridge-to-bridge" route (take Key Bridge into DC and come back via Memorial Bridge) once you get back down to Rosslyn. This will make it about a 14 mile run.
Drinks are looking good for summer, though there are still a few Saturday mid-run drink needs - especially next week, July 19. Please check the SLR webpage for dates of need and email SLR@dcroadrunners.org to help out!
Thank you to Joe Buccimo for supplying our post-run drinks! And thank you to Janate Abbate for supplying our mid-run drinks! We all appreciate this important effort to keep us hydrated.
Lots of great races coming up including the summer Bunion Derby races!
Looks like great summer running weather, partly cloudy with temps in the 70s!
